What the Campaign Was Designed to Deliver
Mumbai's dental market is crowded and every click costs money. The aim was simple: put the clinic in front of nearby patients at the moment they search for a treatment, and turn those searches into calls and bookings.
| Objective | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| Local patient enquiries | Calls, WhatsApp messages and appointment requests from people near Chembur East. |
| Treatment-led visibility | Appear for searches such as implants, root canal treatment, braces and emergency dental care, not just "dentist". |
| Low cost per click | Make a small monthly budget go further by avoiding expensive, irrelevant searches. |
| Measurable results | Know exactly how many enquiries the ads produce and what each one costs. |
What Made This Project Challenging
Paid search for a local clinic can burn a budget quickly. Three problems had to be solved from day one.
A crowded Mumbai market
Dozens of clinics, dental chains and hospitals bid on the same searches across Mumbai, pushing up the cost of every click.
Why it mattered: a small clinic can't outspend chains, so it has to out-target them.
Many treatments, one budget
The clinic offers implants, orthodontics, root canals, cosmetic dentistry and skin and hair care. Without structure, cheap searches eat the budget meant for valuable treatments.
Why it mattered: each treatment needs its own keywords, ads and budget.
Clicks are not patients
Most dental enquiries happen by phone or WhatsApp. Without tracking, it is impossible to tell which ads bring patients and which only bring visits.
Why it mattered: you can only optimise what you measure.
How We Achieved the Results
Six steps took the account from a broad, untracked spend to a focused campaign that reports every enquiry.
Campaign Set-up
- Step 01
Build campaigns around high-value treatments
Instead of one broad "dentist" campaign, we split the account by treatment, so each budget, keyword list and ad matched what the patient was actually looking for.
- Treatment ad groups for dental implants, root canal treatment, braces and orthodontics, smile makeover, teeth whitening and emergency dental care
- Keywords with local intent, such as "dentist in Chembur" and "dental implants Chembur"
- Separate budgets so high-value treatments are never starved by cheaper searches

Target patients who can actually visit
A clinic in Chembur East gains nothing from clicks in Thane or Navi Mumbai. We limited ads to the area patients realistically travel from, and to the hours the clinic can answer.
- Location radius around the clinic in Chembur East
- "Presence" targeting, so ads reach people in the area, not people merely interested in it
- Ad schedule matched to clinic hours, 9:30 am to 9 pm, seven days a week

Ads shown only around the clinic. - Step 03
Write ads that answer the patient's question
Every ad names the treatment, the location and the next step. Assets give patients more ways to act straight from the search result.
- Treatment-specific headlines naming Chembur and the procedure
- Call asset with the clinic number, so mobile searchers can ring in one tap
- Location and sitelink assets pointing to treatment pages and online consultation
- No outcome guarantees or "best dentist" claims, in line with healthcare ad policies

Tracking & Landing Pages
- Step 04
Track what counts as a new patient
Clicks alone don't tell a clinic anything. We set up conversion tracking so the account optimises for real enquiries, not visits.
- Calls from ads and calls from the website
- WhatsApp clicks from the "Schedule an Appointment" button
- Appointment form submissions on the contact page

Send each click to the right page
Ads point to the page that matches the search, not the homepage, so patients see the treatment they asked about with a way to book straight away.
- Treatment pages for implants, root canal, orthodontics and more
- Local pages such as "Dental Clinic in Chembur" and "Emergency Dentist in Chembur"
- Call, WhatsApp and booking buttons visible on every page
Landing pagesMessage match

Ongoing Optimisation
- Step 06
Cut wasted spend every week
We review the search terms that triggered ads and block the ones that will never become patients, then move budget towards what converts.
- Negative keywords for job seekers, students and DIY searches, such as "dental jobs", "BDS course" and "home remedy"
- Bids adjusted by device, time and treatment
- Budget moved towards the treatments bringing enquiries

A small clinic doesn't need a big budget to compete on Google. It needs tight targeting: the right treatments, the right neighbourhood, the right hours, and tracking that shows which clicks become patients.
What were the main results?
The campaign generated 150,000 impressions, 1,010 clicks and 9 tracked patient enquiries for a total spend of ₹7.93K. That works out to about ₹7.85 per click and about ₹881 per enquiry.
What counts as a conversion here?
A conversion is a tracked enquiry: a call from an ad or the website, a WhatsApp click from the appointment button, or a submitted appointment form.
How did you keep the cost per click so low?
By targeting a tight area around the clinic, splitting the account by treatment, scheduling ads for clinic hours and blocking irrelevant searches with negative keywords every week.
Is Google Ads worth it for a small dental clinic?
Yes, when it is set up carefully. A single implant, orthodontic or smile-makeover patient is usually worth far more than the cost of the enquiry, and tracking shows exactly what each enquiry costs.
How do you keep dental ads compliant?
Ads describe treatments factually and avoid outcome guarantees, before-and-after claims and "best dentist" wording, in line with Google's healthcare advertising policies.
